Hot chocolate is a traditional English breakfast drink and all time favourite. This stimulating non alcoholic anti depressant beverage, consumed irrespective of all ages, comes in all sorts of variations. Today let me introduce you to a hot & spiced Mexican hot chocolate drink with a twist of cayenne pepper (Mexican chilli) and cinnamon.

PREPARATION TIME: 15 mins to cook & 10 mins to mix and serve

YIELD / SERVING: 2 servings

INGREDIENTS:

Milk - 3 cups

Rolled Cinnamon Stick - 1 No.

Long Red Chilli, Cut into thirds - 1 No.

Chopped Dark Chocolate - 150 gm

Whipped Cream - To Serve

Ground Cinnamon - To serve

DIRECTIONS:

1. Gather all ingredients and make the basic mis-en-place. (setting all things in its proper place)

2. Heat the milk, cinnamon stick and chilli in a saucepan over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes or until boiling.

3. Set aside for 10 minutes to infuse.

4. Strain into a clean saucepan, discarding solids.

5. Heat over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until hot (don’t boil).

6. Reduce heat to low.

7. Add chocolate and whisk until smooth.

8. Serve into a chilled Old fashioned glass / rock glass.

9. Top with dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

10. Garnish with rolled cinnamon sticks & diced chocolate blocks in a creative style.
