French Dessert: Apple Pie - By Chef Indrajit

Baking Time - Approx 18-20 minutes
Serves - 6 people
Ingredients:
For
Pie Shell:
• Butter - 200 gms
• Blended Sugar - 100 gms
• Refined Flour - 300 gms
For
Apple Mixture:
• Apple - 100 gms
• Castor Sugar - 80 gms
• Sponge Crumb - 80 gms
• Raisins - 25 gms
• Cinnamon Powder - 10 gms
• Butter - 100 gms
Method:
For
Pie Shell:
1. Cream the butter and add blended sugar.
2. Add refined flour and mix nicely to form a dough.
3. Roll the dough to a 5 mm thickness.
4. Cut it into two round shapes, one for the base of
the pie and another to cover the pie.
5. Use a metal pie shell to give shape to the dough
and set aside.
For
Apple Mixture:
1. Peel the apples and cut into small dices.
2. Heat a non-stick pan.
3. Add the apple dices, sugar, raisins, and cinnamon
powder to the pan.
4. Sauté nicely and set aside.
For Assembling:
1. Pour the cooked apple mixture into the raw pie
shell.
2. Apply a little bit of egg wash or water to all
sides of the raw pie rim.
3. Cover with another round cut pie dough on top of
the pie shell.
4. Apply water wash or egg wash on top of the pie lid.
5. Bake at 180-190 degrees Celsius for approximately
18-20 minutes.
6. Serve hot or warm with tea, coffee, or ice cream.
