Ingredients:
- Indian Blackberry (Jamun),
ripe, seeds removed & discarded – 3 cups
- Organic Honey – 1 1/2 tbsp
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Green Chilli, finely chopped -
1 or more, if desired
- Water - 1/4 tbsp if required
- Salt - to taste
- White or Black Pepper - 1/4 tsp
Method:
1. In a blender, add the Indian
Blackberry, honey, ginger & green chilli, and blend/grind to a coarse
paste. Add water if required.
2. Add salt and pepper. Blend
again.
3. Refrigerate for at least 30
minutes.
4. Serve chilled.
(Goes best with hot fritters
& snacks.)
Chef Tips:
1. You may sprinkle a little
chaat masala powder & cumin powder, if desired.
2. You may add fresh fruit juices
of your choice instead of water but ensure that it does not overpower the
flavor of Jamun.
3. Ensure that you do not add too
much juice/water; the consistency of the chutney should be thick & syrupy.
4. You may add a little puree of
fresh mint leaves to impart the refreshing flavor.
5. Do not add too much mint puree
or it will tend to impart bitterness & also spoil the beautiful deep purple
color of the Jamun.
