Banana Caramel Custard is a unique dessert, with banana flavor infused in a
custard sauce made using the double boiling method.
Ingredients:
- Sliced Red Bananas - 4 nos.
- Granulated Sugar - 1 cup
- Heavy Cream - ½ cup
- Whole Milk - ¼ cup
- Kosher Salt - ¼ tsp
- Vanilla Extract - ½ tsp
- Melted Unsalted Butter - ¼ cup
- Caramel Sauce - 1 cup
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a medium saucepan, whisk
together sugar, heavy cream, whole milk, and salt. Cook over medium heat,
stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture simmers.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together egg
yolks and vanilla extract. Gradually pour the warm cream mixture into the egg
yolks, whisking constantly.
4. Return the mixture to the saucepan
and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens and
coats the back of a spoon.
5. Strain the custard into a clean
bowl and stir in the melted butter.
6. In a separate saucepan, heat the caramel
sauce over low heat until warm and smooth.
7. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, create
a layer of caramel sauce. Arrange a layer of sliced red bananas on top.
8. Pour the custard over the bananas
and smooth the top.
9. Repeat the layers, starting with
the caramel sauce, then the bananas, and finally the custard.
10. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until
the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
11. Let it cool to room temperature
before refrigerating for at least 2 hours or overnight.
